FINAL DAYS TO ENTER JACKSON HEWITT®‘BIG CHECK’ TAX REFUND TALE CONTEST

Social Media Contest Asks Taxpayers How They Will Use This Year’s Tax Refund;

April 10 is Final Day to Enter For Chance to Win $3,000 Grand Prize

PARSIPPANY, N.J., April 9, 2010 – Jackson Hewitt Tax Service®, reminds taxpayers to log on to Facebook to enter its ‘Big Check’ contest where  taxpayers are submitting their plans for how they will put their income tax refund to use the year.  The contest winner, selected by votes from visitors to the contest page on Facebook, will win $3,000 – more than the average 2009 individual tax refund.*

The majority of taxpayers receive an annual refund, according to the IRS. In fact, approximately 96 million received a refund in 2009, over 3 million more than in the prior year.*

“To date, over 500 tax refund tales have been posted on the contest Facebook page,” said Debra Dowd, vice president of marketing, Jackson Hewitt Tax Service Inc.  “Entrants are posting a variety of usage tales, from straight-forward, to heart-warming and fun, with most expressing how their refund will help them in offsetting some outstanding debts. What we are seeing are stories about real people and their real life situations where their tax refunds will truly make a difference.”

Anyone can become a fan of the “Big Check” page on Facebook, by logging on to: www.facebook.com/thebigcheck - a new profile created to promote the contest and for fans of the Big Check to connect.  Using the special contest application on the Big Check page, fans can submit their stories – up until 11:59 p.m. on April 10 of how they plan to use this year’s tax refund and be entered for a chance to win a $3,000 big check.  The winner will be announced by May 3, 2010.

This contest is an extension of the Company’s 2010 “Big Check” marketing campaign, which features individual taxpayers, couples and families happily incorporating an oversized refund check into their daily activities – after having their tax return prepared at Jackson Hewitt.

Those interested in participating in the contest can visit the “Big Check’s” Facebook profile at www.facebook.com/thebigcheck or click on the “Big Check” icon on the Jackson Hewitt home page, at www.jacksonhewitt.comNO PURCHASE NECESSARY.  Open to legal residents of the 50 United States and the District of Columbia who have reached the age of maturity for their jurisdiction.  Contest ends April 10, 2010 at 11:59 p.m. EST.  To enter and for official rules, visit www.facebook.com/thebigcheck.  Void where prohibited.
