Jackson Hewitt® honors veterans with donation to Coalition to Salute America’s Heroes
Chairman and CEO Michael Lister To Present Check For $40,000 at Coca-Cola 600 NASCAR Nextel Cup Series Race on Sunday, May 27
PARSIPPANY, N.J., May 25, 2007 – As the nation prepares for its annual observance of Memorial Day, Jackson Hewitt Tax Service®, a leader in the tax preparation industry, is doing its part to honor the men and women who bravely serve our country. The company will be making a contribution as part of its ongoing “Support Our Troops” program to the Coalition to Salute America’s Heroes, a national organization that supports wounded and disabled veterans and their families. Prior to the close of this year’s tax season, Jackson Hewitt created an in-store program that included a well-wish banner signing opportunity, as well as a free 30-minute phone card giveaway to benefit this charitable cause. Chairman and CEO Michael Lister will present the Coalition with a check for the proceeds raised by participating franchisees, company-owned locations and a corporate donation, totaling $40,000, at the Coca Cola 600 race in Charlotte, North Carolina, on Sunday, May 27 as part of Lowe’s Motor Speedway’s American Heroes Weekend.
“Jackson Hewitt and its franchisees have been long time supporters of our troops,” explains Lister. “This donation is a way for us to honor the brave men and women who keep us safe for their service, sacrifice and dedication. Thanks to the work of the Coalition, wounded and disabled soldiers and their families have a place to turn for support; we are proud to serve a part in making a difference in their lives.”
Working with the Coalition to Salute America’s Heroes is just one way that Jackson Hewitt engages its extensive network to assist men and women in the nation’s armed services. The company maintains a comprehensive focus on tax issues relevant to those who serve in the military in order to provide them helpful tax information. In 2006 through 2007, Jackson Hewitt, partnered with the Army National Guard to create the “Heroes of the Year” campaign – a year-long initiative inviting Americans to nominate a National Guard soldier, family or employer for their dedication to, and support of, the core mission and values of the Guard.
Now in its fourth year as “The Tax Service of NASCAR,” Jackson Hewitt is an associate sponsor of the No. 16 Ameriquest Ford Fusion NASCAR NEXTEL Cup car driven by Greg Biffle.
