March through April dedicated to our nation's troops
PARSIPPANY, N.J., March 14, 2005 - Jackson Hewitt Tax Service Inc. (NYSE: JTX) and the Army National Guard today announced the official launch of its annual "Support Our Troops" campaign with a nationwide book drive. Beginning March 14 through April 15, customers and area residents are invited to visit participating Jackson Hewitt locations to donate new or gently used books for the reading pleasure of the valiant men and women serving our country. Books received will be shipped to troops around the world. In addition, those customers with specially marked book drive coupons can receive $20 off tax preparation services when they donate a book.

"Last year our 'Support Our Troops' efforts included a banner signing campaign that allowed us to send well-wishes from thousands of people across the country to our troops serving overseas. This year we've stepped up our efforts and along with our franchisees, look forward to further demonstrating our support of not only the men and women serving, but their families as well."
Participating Jackson Hewitt locations will feature a drop box for book donations. With the help of the Army National Guard, these books will be collected and shipped overseas to military installations for soldiers to enjoy during their down time. The goal of the book drive is to provide deployed troops with entertainment to help relieve boredom during down time and, most importantly, to provide a sense of comfort that millions of people throughout the U.S. are thinking of them as they serve their country.
Jackson Hewitt began its annual "Support Our Troops" campaign last year with its "Support Our Troops Banner Campaign," which placed over 4,900 banners in Jackson Hewitt office locations nationwide for employees, customers and area residents to sign with well wishes. The banners were then sent by the Army National Guard to troops around the world.
This year, in addition to its nationwide book drive, Jackson Hewitt is supporting states that have introduced a Military Family Relief Fund contribution election on their state income tax forms by asking customers to consider donating a small portion of their state tax refund in support of military members in their community. Jackson Hewitt will also sponsor a number of military family recognition events at select bases across the country.
